Merry Christmas, happy holidays...or whatever is politically correct now.
This is just a friendly reminder that you are not alone if you're having a rough time this holiday session.
Almost every teen I know is having a rough go right now, mental illness or not. I'm not sure what it is, if it's specific to this year or just a general thing. Everyone has baggage and some of it surrounds Christmas holidays.
I'm fully aware of how alone one can feel when they are surrounded by family and friends; feeling alone in a crowded room. The single most important thing is to remember that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
I'm not feeling great today. I've spent Christmas with my best friend and his family along with my own; so why aren't I feeling great? I got all sorts of things that I love today so why aren't I enjoying them? I have no answer to those questions. None.
All I know is that I am not alone. I am trying desperately to muster the energy to make tea but until that time comes; this is all the comfort I have. It's enough; not a lot but enough. There is nothing easy or simple about "just having a nice holiday" when you feel like crap. I'm not suggesting you force yourself to fake happiness; all I want you all to know is that you truly aren't alone. You and I will both make it through the holidays.
