To Be a Beautiful Creature

Today be a beautiful creature.
For you and for everyone else,
And if no one else stands proud, beautiful with you,
Then be beautiful for them all the same.

Today be a loud noisemaker.
Stomp and skip and make a hullaballoo,
Talk in funny voices and make funny faces
For all the others who would rather stay quiet.

Today be an adventure seeker.
Whether that means touching a toe in new territory,
Or leaping headfirst into the deep end,
Make sure to drag your friends along too.

Today be a gainer of knowledge.
Try to know more when the day ends,
Than when it began
Even if you’re the only one who knows it.

Today be a creator of new things.
It could be cultivating a friendship,
Or a doodle in your margin,
But either way never be afraid of its possibilities.

Today be a lover, never a fighter.
Be the peace in the room that everyone aspires to
And always greet someone’s frustrations and hatred with an open heart,
So as not to be tainted by it.

Today be the one who makes a few mistakes.
If you don’t, how would you know where to improve?
How would you what you can do better tomorrow?
If you don’t your insecurity will overwhelm you.

Today be a beautiful creature.
Shine brightest and laugh loudest,
Have your voice echo around the mountain tops,
So that when it may be heard others will flock to you,
Wanting to join you.
