Sexuality Is Not A Joke

Sexuality isn’t a joke. It’s not funny to say you’re gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc. when you aren’t. I know “hacking” on to someone else’s Facebook account and writing “I like cock,” (as a male) or ”lesbians forever,” (as a female) seems funny and is a popular amongst teens; but it’s not ok.

God, get over yourself. It’s just a joke.

No. No it isn’t. We’re a desensitized generation but it doesn’t take a poets soul to feel for the kids killing themselves because of their sexuality.

Can you see this? These kids are dying. I have many friends who are not straight, in whatever capacity that may be and they are almost exclusively in the closet… because they feel too uncomfortable and unsafe to be themselves.

I personally have never heard someone refer to someone from the LGBT community as a loser or something as upfront as that. The way I see it manifest is via “jokes” and I am livid about each and every one.

Usually it’s not a matter of people trying to be cruel or make people feel uncomfortable; like most things it’s due to ignorance. It’s not some abstract concept, it’s a lot of people’s reality and chances are you have a friend or family member who is not straight whether you know it or not so be aware of what you’re saying and who could be listening.
